i want to save a selection as jpg file at my chosen location

    1. Open your picture file. In the Layers palette you should see this as "Background"

    2. Use one of the selection tools and make your selection. Once this is complete, press CTRL+J to place the selection on its own layer. This will be Layer 1

    3. Right click on the Background layer in the palette and delete the Background layer

    4. You will be left with the selection surrounded by transparency in Layer 1

    5.  Save this as JPEG file. You will have the selection without a background to be used at your discretion.
