Im struggling placing images into mockups . Im managed to get the image in to the mockup , however ,it then becomes  distorted and unclear.

    This is the Photoshop Elements forum. If you are using Photoshop, there is a dedicated forum for this.

    If you are using PSE, go to File>new>blank file. Enter the dimensions of your photo and the resolution of the photo. This will be your canvas.

    Add the frame at this stage, if you wish, although it can be done later.

    Go to File>place, point to the photo, and it should fit nicely on the canvas. You can adjust with minimal, if any, distortion.

    Note: For printing it is desirable to have the resolution on the 240-300 px/in range. For web work 72px/in is ok.

    If you are interested in making your own frames, this can be done in PSE.

    What is the nature of the mockup? Where did you get it from? What is the resolution?

    What is the file format of the images? What is the resolution of the images?

    Please advise how you are going about this, i.e. your work-flow.

    The nature of the mockup, is a tablet MacBook air frame and a mobile frame. Just adding images for a portfolio piece.

    I randomly got the frames off of the net.

    The process I followed:

    1 add frame

    2 use the pen tool, to mark out the corners of the blank screen

    3 next use the rectangle tool to draw a rectangle within the blank screen

    4 double-click on the layers panel, and converts the layer to a smart object

    5 go to file, to scroll down to place embedded and select image

    6 resize image to add to frame

    7transform, distort or warp to cover frame

    This is where it usually goes wrong and I am stumped, I have the most up-to-date photo shop but everybody I have viewed on YouTube is using a former version. Ironically I managed to do this once and it was perfect and I think I'm missing a step somewhere .

    I am relatively new to photo shop, also these are just standard screenshots of the site I help create
