import from Mac - pictures from card reader into PSE and Seagate

do I need to format the seagate disk when using a macbook air?  Im not a mac but a pc user and therefore not able to use the "Import" function.  Pictures from camera card reader into Photoshop Elements 15 with the source SEAGATE external drive.

Seagate format.  Sorry I did not reply back  I got my answer  the format is Exfat on Seagate - so i can import or export images into photoshop elements
