Question

Import people-, place-, event- and image-tags from one catalog to another

For the sake of a manageable structure, I'm currently dividing my image archive (which has grown over the years in PSE) into different catalogs. Previously, these were in a catalog that contained many (person, place, etc.) tags.

I know the possibility of exporting the keyword tags into a file using the context menu (clicking on the "green plus sign") and then importing them back into the new catalog. Unfortunately, this doesn't work for person, place, event and image tags
... and these tags in particular make up a lion's share for me.

Is there a way to import these person-, place-, event- and image- tags that have grown over the years into other catalogs?
Entering everything manually multiple times, i.e. per catalog, is an incredible amount of work. I'm sure there's a simple solution that I just can't think of.
I'm currently using Photoshop Elements 2023.

Grateful for every tip
Greetings from Berlin

Instead of breaking up your catalog into pieces, why not add keyword tags for each category that you intend to divide.  That makes it a whole lot easier to manage your catalogs instead of opening and closing multiple catalogs.

However, if you really want to split the catalogs up, I suggest making copies of the catalog folder, renaming each copy of the catalog, and then deleting all the files that you don't want in a particular catalog.  So, for example, if you wanted two catalogs - one for Home and one for Business -  copy your catalog folder twice.  Then rename one folder Home and the other one Business.  In the Home catalog, delete all the business files.  In the Business catalog delete all the Home files.  (Obviously, don't delete the files from the hard drive).

Another option would be to make sure all of the metadata has been written to the files in the current catalog.  When you import the files into a new catalog, accept the option to import all tags.  The system tags (People, Places, Events)  should be available as regular keyword tags under the Imported category.  You can then select a People name, create a new People category tag with the same name, and then tag all the selected files with the newly created People tag.  All the people will then have People tags (but will not have any face recogntion).  You can then delete the keyword tag so that only the People tag remains.  This makes for less confusion but is not an ideal solution.  And you will also face issues with Place and Event tags.
