Import photos from Samsung A52

I am trying to download photos from my phone. Sometimes it will download a few but give up after about 10%. It says 

Elements Organiser cannot obtain files from this device. Please ensure that the device is connected properly, or that the battery is charged, and try again.

Yes, the phone is charged.

I have tried different USB cables and different USB ports on the computer

I have tried different connection profiles, eg import photos, transfer data

Ive tried loads of times

Is there a way to get this programme to actually import photos? That's mostly what Id like to use this for.
