Import photos in order taken

For the umpteenth time!!! I want to import and thus number my photos in the order taken, not reverse. Of the (probably) 10th time, it imports them from the disk in reverse order. How do I bypass this and get the application to import them in order taken. It should not be this difficult

Hi @sherryo93871480 .  It is not entirely clear to me what your problem is.

  • The numbers given to your photos is governed by the settings in your camera.
  • You can display the photos in the Organizer in chronological order (date and time taken) either oldest first or newest first, by using the Sort by drop down list:

  • If you want to see your most recently taken photos at the top of the grid, you can then use the Edit>Preferences>General dialog to show either the oldest or newest photo within each day

I generally sort my grid by Newest and set my preferences to Show Oldest photo first within each day.  This means that all photos taken on a particular day are displayed before photos taken on an earlier day.  However, all photos for that particular day are shown in chronological order for that day.  So, for example, all photos taken today are displayed before all photos taken yesterday.  But, a photo taken at 9 am today will appear before a photo taken at 6 pm today.  These settings do not provide a strict chronological order because the first photo taken today at 9 am will not appear next to the last photo taken yesterday at 6 pm.  If you want that to be your order, you will have to choose the Newest First within Each Day option.  I often get confused by this wording because the Newest photo is actually the last photo taken.

  • I am assuming that you are talking about the order displayed in the Organizer.  But, if you are talking about the order of the photos displayed in Windows File Explorer, that is governed by the OS and cannot be changed.

Let us know if there is something in your question I have missed.
