Importing Canon M5 RAW files into Elements 14

Hello,

I'm looking for advice please on importing RAW files from a Canon M5 for editing in Elements 14.

Support said the RAW file can't be opened by Elements 14 becasue the software is too old, and the camera too new.

Is there really no way for me to try RAW editing with this camera in 14?

    The DNG files have the raw data from the native raw files, plus the Adobe camera profile needed for Adobe software to decode them.

    The way to get the most out of your raw files would be to payfor something like Lightroom, which, now, is a $120/year billed at $10/month subscription:  Buy Adobe Photoshop Lightroom CC | Photo editing and organizing software 

    The Photography Plan gives you a desktop LR app, Photoshop, and a cloud LR app with 20GB of cloud storage, while the LR CC Plan gives you 1TB of cloud storage and just the cloud app without the desktop app.  I prefer desktop.

    Of course there are other products like RAW Therapee that are free but somewhat slower to operate.  I still prefer LR.

    The one FREE way, would be to use the DNG Converter to convert your camera's native raw files to DNGs, one folder at a time, and those DNGs, but not the native raws, can be opened in obsolete Adobe software.  The DNG Converter needs to be new enough to support the M5, and usually you'd want to just use the latest version, which can be found on the Adobe Product Updates page:

      Thanks, so are DNG files equivalent to RAW in terms of how they can be edited?

      I've never used RAW before, just want to give it a go to make the most of my camera.
