I just purchased a new computer  and need to move around 23,000 old photos on an external HD onto a new computer using PS elements 15.  On PA, I selected import photos from the external hard drive and PS created a catalog  but it didn't seem to actually move them to the new computer.   I'm not sure what the processes is now to move/copy all the photos over to the new computer.

    Hi Kenneth

It’s best to use the backup and restore method built into Organizer. Start from Organizer on the old computer and use the tally file (TLY) to copy the catalog and media files using an external hard drive, thumb rive etc. See link below:

Move Elements Organizer catalog | Elements 6 or later

    Hi

Do this pictures need to be imported through Ps? It sounds like you would like to bring them from a HD on to your new machine to have quick access. Right?

You can do that outside of Ps. Just create a destination folder on your new machine, "Copy" the folders/images and "Paste" them in the destination folder you created. Depending on your machine, it might take some time to complete.

    Hope this helps

    Hi Kenneth

I have moved your post from the Photoshop forum to the Photoshop Elements forum where you are more likely to get answers relevant to your software.
