Question

Inability to sign into Photoshop Elements Editor 12

While I am successful at going into the Organizer and using Instant Fix, the Editor will not load.  It tells me that sign in is required and gives me the terms and conditions for trial software.  I have been using the program for years, so it is not a trial.  When I click to sign in, it tells me I am not connected to the Internet (I am) and retry.  It says the computer is either offline or the clock is set incorrectly (it is set correctly).  When I continue to try to sign in, it says the page is unavailable.

How do I get access to the Editor again?  I'm in the middle of a project with a deadline, and I really need your assistance.  Thank you,  Barbara J

Hi barbaraj,

Thanks for posting in Adobe forums.

I can understand you are not able to activate Adobe Photoshop Elements 12 in the presence of internet.

There could be a possibility with the "Hosts" file of your operating system.

- Location of "Hosts" file in Windows OS is C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts

For Mac to find the "Hosts" file

- Open Finder and, in Finder’s menu bar, select Go > Go to Folder. In the box, type the following location and press Return.

/private/etc/hosts

- Create a copy of your hosts file on your desktop or some other place.

- Open you duplicate copy of host file in a text editor software.

- If you see any entries of adobe in it please delete them & save the file.

- Replace you new edited file with the old one.

- If you are using Windows PC, please click here to download Adobe Application Manager.

- If you are using a Mac, please click here to download Adobe Application Manager.

- After installation please double click its icon on your desktop to complete the installation.

- Open Adobe Photoshop Elements

- Click "Help"

- If you are signed in then please sign out.

- Open Adobe Photoshop Elements again.

- Sign in with your adobe id & password.

- Enter your serial number to activate the software.

- Restart Adobe Photoshop Elements & test it.

Hope this helps

Thanks

I did that and she said that because it was so old, they were not trained on how to fix this product.  She told me to use the forum, so I am counting on you guys to sort out my problem.  Thanks!
