Inadequate RAM for Ps Elements 14 Editing

Have been successfully operating Ps Elements 14 with Windows 10 OS for over 20 months on my HP Spectre laptop, however recently (presumably following Windows OS update) I now receive an inadequate RAM message when seeking to perform Ps editing actions on images.  I have standard 4Gb RAM on the laptop. Microsoft suggest it is an Adobe issue/fix. Any helpful advice would be welcomed.
