Installing Photoshop Elements 2018 onto another computer

Hi,

I have a friend with two computers. He has a license for Photoshop Elements 2018 as well as Photoshop Portable CS6. He is using Windows 10 (however not version 1803).

If he tries to install Photoshop Elements 2018 on the computer with Photoshop Portable CS6, he gets an installation error: DB error 12.

We have almost given up on installing both products on one of the computers.

However, he has another computer and want to know if he can install Photoshop Elements 2018 on that one, even if we have tried installation on the old one.

Does the license automatically follow the latest installation?

Thank you in advance for your answers.

Lars

I am also having trouble installing on second machine [macOS]. I installed PSElements 2018 from official disk to iMac in Jan 2018. Now want install onto MacBookPro.

Inserted disk, entered serial number at prompt, logged in with 'Adobe ID', then got this dialog box.

The username was not my login user name [an email address], but rather my real name. I tried my computer admin password, and then my Adobe ID password multiple times. Neither was accepted. I changed the user name entry to my actual Adobe ID username. Still all entries were rejected.

am I really entitled to install on more than one machine? How do I make this happen? Tried chat at Adobe help - waited 40 min with no reply, so that seems useless.

can anyone help?

That is your operating system, not Adobe, asking for your user name and password.  Use your Mac information, not your Adobe information.

Thanks for your reply. That is what I thought [I've been using Macs and PCs for ±35 yrs.]

So, just before getting your reply, I decided to 'clear the decks' by restarting the MBPro and re-try the installation process.

It is working as I write. Who knows why the entries did not work before, but all appears to be good at this point.

Again, thanks.

Correctly suggested by Bob, Since you failed to install PSE 2018 on any of the machines, your license must not have been activated, so you should be able to install and License it on a new computer.

Also, when you try to install PSE 2018 with Photoshop Portable CS6, you should have seen a installation failure error, where there is a error summary link as well.

Could you please click and see the errors, also if possible please share screenshots with us of that error summary, so we can try to help you installing PSE 2018 with Photoshop Portable CS6.

Hi,

The message my friend gets which is shown by clicking the error summary link is: "Installation DB error: 12". It seems to be a problem with an installation database.

Could you please check for some more errors in the installation log files present at location: "C:\Program File (x86)\Common files\Adobe\Installers\Install.log"

In case if you have not enabled to view the extenstions on your machine, you would find a install file inside the installer folder.

You can install on many computers, but only two at a time can be activated (signed in), and only one at a time may be used.

To use on a third one (if you are already signed in on two computers), just go to Help > Sign out from the Editor on one you are not using and then Help > Sign in to sign in on the other computer.

If he hasn't signed in on any computers, he would still have two activations to use.
