Instant Fix freezes with Windows 11

Thanks. I may give that a try. Windows 11 doesn't have Explorer, but has
Windows Edge instead.

Hi Somya,
(1) I have no idea how many media files, but guessing between 15K and 20K.
(2) Editing only one photo at a time.
(3) Working with JPEG. I have my iPhone 8 set to download as JPEG and when
I save an Instant Fix edit or an edit in Editor, I always save as JPEG.
(4) My catalog is on an external HD, which still has a lot of free space.

I have never had this problem until I downloaded Windows 11 a few days
ago. I have tried a few things since my first post on here, some of which
may help you diagnose my problem.

The following is what I have been doing for the past several years:
1 - I open the *Adobe Photoshop Elements 2020* screen.
2 - I click on *Organizer*. It previously opened to my Media with either
one photo or 5 if it was on Grid, the *Albums *pane open on the left, and
the *Keyword/Info* pane on the right set to *General*.
3 - Click on a photo.
4 - Click on *Instant Fix*.
5 - Crop the photo (or some other edit).
6 - Click on the green check mark.
7 - Click on *Save* in the lower-right corner of the window.
8 - A small window opens showing that the edit is being saved.
9 - Click on *Done* in the lower-right corner of the window.
10 - This is where it freezes. Nothing will get me out of the *Instant Fix*
window and back to the *Media *with my photos.
11 - I close the *Instant Fix* window by clicking on the *X* in the
upper-right corner of the window.
12 - This takes me back to the *Adobe Photoshop Elements 2020* window.
13 - I click on *Organizer* to take me back to my photos, now showing the
edited photo has been cropped.

The following is something I have tried today that does let me edit without
having a freeze:
Steps 1-6 above are the same. The changes are:
7 - Instead of clicking on *Save*, I click on *Done *in the lower-right
corner.
8 - A small window opens asking, *Do you want to Save changes before
editing?* I click on *Yes*.
9 - A small window opens showing that the edit is being saved.
10 - It automatically exits *Instant Fix*, taking me back to my *Media* where
I see the photo has been cropped.

I have also tried going to *Editor *instead of *Instant Fix* to edit a
photo. I'm not totally sure what I am doing when saving my edits in
*Editor*.
*A* - After I click on the photo that I want to edit, I click on
*Editor *instead
of *Instant Fix*.
*B* - I crop the photo (or other edit).
*C* - I click on the green check mark.
*D* - I open the *File *tab at the top and click on *Save*.
*E* - I save it as an *edited-1JPEG* file.
*F* - A small *JPEG Options* window opens. I don't understand this, so I
don't make any changes to anything in this window. I leave the settings as
*10* for *Quality*; keep *Preview *checked; keep *Baseline ("standard")*
button on; leave it set at *3 *for *Pick a number of passes when choosing
Progressive format*. Again, I have no idea what these settings mean, but I
click on *OK*.
*G* - I close the window by clicking on the *X* in the upper-right corner.
This takes me back to the *Media* screen where I note that my photo has
been edited.

Sorry for the length of this email, but I hope I have explained things
clearly enough.
