Running Photoshop Elements 2018 in Windows 10, can do nothing as consistent meesage"Insufficient RAM".  Not feeling confident to go through registry to correct.  What other options do I have and what is Adobe doing about an upgrade. FEEL that Adobe has let users down as there has been suffient time to upgrade.

Dissatisfied user.

    Dear Dissatisfied user,

This is a user to user forum where other users like you and me are trying to get the most about Elements. We are extremely happy when we can help. (Adobe staff does rarely participate here.)

If you want to show your mood and dissatisfaction with Adobe, there is the feedback forum.

    Photoshop Family Customer Community

Since the present issue is a major one which has already prompted numerous questions and complaints, one more will not mean much.

What is striking for other users like me, is that dissatisfied users in general totally ignore the fact that Adobe did not take hold of your computer to sabotage its software. Microsoft did. It's enough to roll back to the previous Windows 10 update to solve any RAM problem. But that's something Microsoft makes practically impossible. Did you show your dissatisfaction with Microsoft?

On the other hand, the issue appeared in May with Photoshop, and Adobe provided immediately a workaround. It proved to be effective also for the Elements issue. It has been used by thousands of users following step by step instructions which don't need to be understood, just followed.

And there comes in the 'registry drama'.

Common wisdom in Windows environment dictates to be extremely prudent with the sacrosanct Registry. The more you are acquainted with Windows, the more you dread the moment you have to fiddle with it. There has been a lot of failures to follow the steps, most of which have been solved after correcting the edits. What strikes me is that I have still to find a case where the registry edit has caused a disaster. If not applied correctly, it's inoperant. That's all. And if there was somewhere a disaster, believe me, there would have been very serious and loud complaints here and elsewhere!

    Now about:

What other options do I have and what is Adobe doing about an upgrade.

That's the real very serious question.

You probably know that it took Adobe two months to issue a new Photoshop CC version with that monthly subscription formula. This means that they have probably found a similar way to solve the slightly different issues in Elements. This has already been discussed here and elsewhere: little chance that Adobe issues an intermediate free update now because we are too near the schedule for the next PSE2019. After all, Adobe may be relatively happy to show that the monthly subscription model has advantages . Anyway, Elements is far from being a big source of profit.

    So:

    You have PSE2018:

You are entitled to ask for help and support (Consumer care - start a chat session). If you don't want to edit the registry, they have already remotely updated the registry for many users. You won't be alone, especially in a week-end period... Good luck!

    You have PSE14 or PSE15

Sorry, those versions are no longer supported.

The registry edit is your only solution as far as I know. Get help from friends or family if you don't feel ready yourself. No need to be an IT specialist.
