iPhone 8 to Elements 11 download files

Having trouble downloading photo files from iPhone 8 to Elements 11 running on Windows 11

Using USB  Elements recognizes the iPhone.  Get "no valid files found"

You have probably used the .heic format for taking iPhone photos. Elements 11 for Windows does not support that format. You must go to your iPhone settings for the Photos app, scroll to the bottom and make sure that Transfer to Mac or PC is set to Automatic. This will convert your files to jpegs and should allow you to import the files.
