iPhone Videos won't Play in Organizer 2021

.MOV Videos from my new iPhone 16 with IOS 18 will not play or show a thumbnail on Organizer 2021. They have no thumbnail on Windows File Explorer but will play on Photos, Media Player or any other Windows video app. I have tried all kinds of different camera settings on the iPhone including turning HDR OFF and reducing the frame rate and resolution, but nothing makes them work on Organizer. Is there any iPhone setting or Organizer/Windows update that will make this work?

That message pops up randomly and I have never seen an explanation of why it does. However, I recommend that you uninstall and reinstall Elements and see if the problem is resolved. Please let us know if it does.

Are you getting any message when you attempt to play them?

HDR videos will not play in Elements 2021.

Try recoding the videos using a free utility called Handbrake. It is possible to batch recode the files.

You may also want to ask your question over in the Premiere Elements forum. They may have more suggestions over there.

Greg, yes I get the following message from Organizer when trying to play these videos: Unable to load movie The selected file cannot be played because your system does not have the required compressor/decompressor (codec) installed. Click here for more information.

The link does not provide any useful information, just that Elements/Organizer 2021 should be able to play .MOV Files. So I can play these files on my PC with other apps such as Photos or Media Player. I assumed if I could play them on other apps, "my system" had the proper codec, but maybe it is just Elements 2021 that does not have the proper codec.

So, I think I am left with two possibilities; bulk convert all the files with handbrake, including all new videos I record or upgrade to a version of Elements/Organizer that supports these files properly. Greg, would you concur with this assessment and is there a version that supports these files correctly?
