Question

Is my Adobe Photoshop Elements 18 installed correctly? How can I get my pictures transferred from version 6 to version 18?

I have spent hours on the phone and on line chatting with Adobe Photoshop "experts".  No one can answer these 2 basic questions:

1.  Is Photoshop Elements 18 for PC's installed correctly (it took several attempts).  It shows 1.15 KB on my desktop icon (properties)

2.  I was told that my 3000 pictures on elements version 8 would automatically upload to the 18 version.  Nothing has happened.  How do I upload version 6 pictures to version 18?

Basic question: does Photoshop Elements 2018 (not 18) open normally and display the pages shown in the help files?

    If not, what happens?

You can't expect an answer here from fellow users if you don't give a minimum info on:

    - Your OS, your own hardware setup

    - the steps in details in your installation endeavour.

    1.  Is Photoshop Elements 18 for PC's installed correctly (it took several attempts).  It shows 1.15 KB on my desktop icon (properties)

It's the size of your desktop shortcut icon, neither the installation folder nor the program folder.

    2.  I was told that my 3000 pictures on elements version 8 would automatically upload to the 18 version.  Nothing has happened.  How do I upload version 6 pictures to version 18?

You never 'upload' any files in a catalog. You 'import' them (a very ambiguous word) meaning you 'index' or 'register' your media files by entering their location (drive and path) as well as their exif properties in a database of the catalog.

When you install a newer Elements version on the same computer holding the old one, you are prompted to 'convert' the catalog. If you miss the opportunity, you can still use the catalog manager of the organizer to convert any older catalog.

Converting means creating a new catalog, it does not copy any photo file.

    Hi,

You need to convert your PSE 6 catalog in order to use it in PSE 2018. You can convert your previous version catalog in Elements Organizer 2018 by going to File->Manage Catalogs. Click on convert. Convert dialog box will open, select the previous version catalog to convert. Once converted you can select that catalog and open it. Let us know if this solves your issue.

    Thanks
