Question

Is there a way to produce a color/texture gradient in PSE18 or 19?

The above is part of an old, scanned image I am trying to restore. Notice that the color gets darker going from left to right and that there is a texture present. I am trying to duplicate that effect such that the grey imperfection and the white triangle are simply part of the sections below them in both color and texture.

The clone tool, though somewhat tedious, does OK except that the top of the groom's top hat prevents me from dealing with that section. I tried the gradient tool but the best I can do is a solid color gradient. Is there a way to create a 'gradient' of texture AND color from left to right?

You've asked your question in the Premiere Elements (video) forum, not the Photoshop Elements forum.  I'll try to get it moved.

You can create a gradient from the colors of your file strip.

First, use the color picker to select the lighter part and assign that color to the background, then selected the darker part as the foreground color.

In the gradient editor, select the first gradient (background to foreground). Then, ok.

create a new layer under the file strip and draw an horizontal line from far left to far right with the gradient tool.

You should get something very close.

The texture is not very important. It can only be added as a second step.

You'll have to play with the menu Filter >> texture to add either some grain or better a very soft canvas texture with the texturizer.
