issues with narration, mic sound too low unable to adjust to higher volume

Hi, I recently bought the surface pro 4 and downloaded the trial of Adobe Elements.  I was testing out the narration option and found that the volume is very low and I was unable to adjust the sound higher.  I have tried going into setting, audio hardware but no help.
