It seems that PSE 2018 is the first Elements version you are using?

I have loads of photos that will not upload or reconnect..

The main reasons for having files which are not 'imported' in the organizer are:

- some are duplicates

- some are in not supported formats (raw, pdf, ai...)

- some are 'corrupt'

- some jpegs are not 'recognized' as valid even if other programs or browsers can open them...

So, if you are using the 'bulk' import of all your files suggested when you start the organizer, it will be no surprise if many files are not imported. I recommend 'importing' selectively specifying the folders (their subfolders will be imported) you really want to import?

Keep in mind that the 'import' process from your drive does not create duplicate files, it only scans, registers and indexes each file in a database with its information, its location on the disk and a small thumbnail for fast visual search.

Don't be surprised if you try to import files several times: the organizer should recognize if the file is already registered in the catalog and refuse to import them again. The criteria are date_taken and file size in kB (not filename).

If you can search if the files which won't import are in the above categories, that will help to guide you better.
