Lasso Tool Closes Automatically

Hi,

     I use Elements 15, and Windows 10 Pro and the lasso tool (Polygonal and Magnetic) closes automatically. I'll be adding points, when the last and first point randomly connect and mess up the whole thing. They usually close only after only a few points. I have tried a couple mouses, and the track pad, but the problem still occurs. I have looked at other forms and answers to the problem, but non of them work. Thanks.

Using the magnetic lasso tool, you should be able to delete an anchor point with the delete key.

If the picture file is low contrast, I'm inclined to boost the contrast a bit prior to use of the tool.. I use the default settings. You can reset the tool to default via the tool's option bar.

Once these preliminaries are out of the way, I work my way around the object that is to be selected. Should an anchor point be laid down outside the intended path, I press delete, and proceed to navigate onward.

Once the selection is complete, I place the selection on a new layer (CTRL+J), and use the eraser tool to tidy up, if necessary.
