Lasso Tool delay?

I am using Photoshop Elements 2020 with a Mac studio with 32Gb of memory and the latest Mac software Sonoma 14.1.2

After I use the Lasso tool on a photo there is a 5 to 10 second delay if I want to re-use the Lasso tool to add additional selections. My photo files are not large!

What is causing the delay and how can I correct it?

    See if installing the macOS Sonoma 14.2.1 update makes any difference.

      This is probably the only way for you to fix your problem: purchase the latest version.      Adobe won't issue "a fix" for versions older than PSE 2023.  They only officially support the most recent version, and just the previous version of PSE.

      Sonoma has a number of problems with prior versions of Elements.  This may be one of them.
