Lasso Tool problem PSE 15

I have PSE 15, Win 10 pro. I installed on new laptop. The tool works off and on. Sometimes so well, I think it has corrected itself, then the next second, back to not working. Sometimes it will just not "grab" at all. Sometimes, it will allow me to start the selection and continue, then automatically deselect.

I have searched and searched for solutions online, but cannot correct it. I uninstalled and re-installed PSE with no results. I tried another mouse. I have another laptop with Win 10 pro, and I don't have the same problem. It works fine.

Any ideas?

    On the lasso tool's option bar, look for a box with lines in it on the right. Click on it to reset the tool.

    If that does not fix it, reset preferences to default. To do that, go to Edit>preferences>general and look for this:

    I had used "reset tool" many times with no success. I hadn't reset prefs to default and relaunched, so I tried that. First attempt after resetting, same thing.

    Have been using PSE since 1st version, with numerous different computers. Have never had this happen and I'm afraid I'm going to have to go back to my old laptop. It's taking me so much longer, than it should, to do my editing.
