launching photo editor

New user of Elements 2022.... One time purchase version.  When I launch, I am asked for my computer password, then goes to an install screen that takes 15 seconds or so and then opens to the home screen.  I select photo editor and seems normal to use (using expert, different layout from my old version).

Why am I asked for the computer password and how to stop requiring?

Why am I going thru the install screen prompt?

Can the window be less than full screen?

How can I launch photo editor directly? (replys in the forum are not specific)

Thank you

I received an email indicating another reply, but viewing, there is no answer to my last two questions.

My question #1, the Adobe Photoshop Elements Editor.app is what I only desire to run and is in the folder named "Support Files" which is in the folder named "Adobe Photoshop Elements 2022" in the applications folder.  Also in the folder named "Adobe Photoshop Elements 2022"  is "Adobe Photoshop Elements 2022.app" which launches the home page.  The "Photoshop Elements 2022.app" found in the applications folder alphabetically under the letter "P" (not in the adobe folders) is an installer app and should not be of any interest or use and fortunately small, 13 MB.

Hope this is helpful to others unfamiliar with the PSE file structure  Thanks to VipinGupta for staying with me which resulted in my figuring out what these different apps do and where they are.

Hi,

The application asks for computer password only once while installation to get your confirmation, this is as designed and other apps also ask for it before installation can happen on a mac machine.

It should not ask you for computer password on every launch, could you please share a screenshot of the prompt you see?

The prompt is the MAC OS whenever you install software for the first time.  Launching elements puts up the small install screen indicating installing (like the first time) and the MAC asks me to approve which I do and the install goes to maybe 6% and then opens.

Today I deleted the software (and creative part) thinkng later to reinstall.  (therefore no image)  When installing I had a choice for all users which was picked and I am the only one, or one user (as I recall), maybe that was a factor.   The initial loading took long, 30 or so minutes which seemed adnormal.  So I plan to start over.  The uninstaller did not delete anything from the application support library, leaving behind over 1GB of orphaned files, that ought to be fixed.

I loved photoshop elements 8 and this new version has much more than I need or want.  Being able to just use the photo editor in expert mode is close to my previous experience and wish I could drop a file on the application and have it open without the home page, be wonderful.  I went from HighSierra to Monterey.

Hi,

I am not sure if I completely understand the problem, I would recommend you to check the installation steps here: https://helpx.adobe.com/download-install/using/download-install-photoshop-elements.html

Hope this helps.
