Layers menu

Hi

I've just installed Elements 2024 for windows, but the layer menu is greyed out, any ideas?

Ah, in this version it's calles 'expert' - layers now active!

Then I wondered where the layout panel was - F11 - and there it is!

Im afraid I'm used to to PSe9!

The default is to open the Editor in Quick Mode which does not allow for use of Layers. Change to Advanced Mode and the Layers menu will become active.

Legend

You can always choose layers from the "window" menu choich- just to the left of the word help. I'm pretty sure the default value is to have layers selected. ALSO: I think Adobe changed it from "expert" to "Advanced" simply not to scare people--- If I want more advanced features and tools I switch over to photoshop.
