Let's get WIA working in photoshop elements 2026

New computer.  Windows 11.  New drivers for the scanner.  File->import-?WIA support just locks up the program.  No error messages, no nothing.  I can scan from organizer but that’s not what I want to do.  Your online chat support couldn’t fix the problem.  Let’s have a fix please.  All previous versions of the software have worked perfectly.

I gave up on using wia support years ago.   I just use my scanning software, (it came with the printer , and the printer is a et2803- a pretty new model) scan it all it, save it and open it photoshop elements.    I’ve been using the software for about 20 years now, I just figured out a work around and went with it.   Literally not worth the time to try and figure it out, scan scan using a program and then open in PSE>

It’s not really a PSE issue it’s probably a  your scanner issue.

Lack of WIA (Windows Image Acquisition) support for scanners in Photoshop Elements is primarily due to 64-bit incompatibility, outdated scanner drivers, or faulty Windows services. Modern Photoshop Elements runs in 64-bit mode, requiring 64-bit TWAIN/WIA drivers from manufacturers. When these are missing, Elements cannot recognize the scanner, leading to "no WIA compatible devices" errors.

Have you checked the Windows settings for your scanner device? This video shows how:

Yes, I have done this and the services were all working.

Since this may possibly be a Win11 issue, have you queried Copilot (or other AI) about it?   I just did and received a range of possible solutions.  Try typing … ‘File->import-WIA support locks up PSE 2026’ without the quotes.

Well interestingly enough Adobe support thinks you guys do work for them.  I asked where I could submit this as a bug and they gave me this link!  You all should request back pay.

That aside, yes I already have tried various searches including AI with no solution.
