Levels slider does not work from keyboard command

I am using PSE 2018. When I use the keyboard command for levels, the adjustment box comes up, but the sliders do not work. Levels slider works when it is an adjustment layer. Other adjustment boxes, from the keyboard command, ie, hue/saturation, do work. I reinstalled the program, but it did not help.
