lost pictures in premier organizer

Havent opened premier elements, photoshop and organizer for at least a year. 2022 version 20.0

I wanted to make a present for my daughters birthday by importing over 100 pictures of her into video timeline and doing stuff with it. Using people tab in organizer I was able to bring up all the photos I wanted. However I coldnt figure out how to add them to a timeline. When using timeline and clicking add medai and then clicking organizer it shows a condensed version where the tabs are missing i.e. people tab. Looking at manual online is pretty much hopeless, using AI had suggestions but it didnt work, A remote assistance from Adobe support said it couldnt be done (for real) which I absolutely dont beilieve and Im guessing its an easy fix. As I kept on experimenting I not only couldnt figure it out but 2 new problems developed where organizer keeps freezing and the pictures that I wanted to create something with completely disappeared from organizer under the people tab??? I have 3 questions: 1. how do I get the photos I want from organizer into elements timeline, 2. How do I get my daughters pictures back in organizer, 3 how do I safely fix the freezing without losing anything.  Thanks for any assistance. Im in my 70s-not that it matters 🙂

There are several ways to accomplish what you want.  I would suggest that you place the desired photos into an Album.  That way you can place the photos in your desired order before sending them to the video timeline.  Then:

  • select the album
  • make sure the Sort by filter is in Album Order
  • select all of the photos (Ctrl+A)
  • right-click on an image
  • select Edit with Premiere Elements Editor from the context menu.

The photos should be sent to the Premiere Elements timeline in the desired order.

As for the photos that have disappeared, we need more information.  Do they still appear in the Media Grid or have they entirely disappeared from the catalog?

Before doing anything else, I suggest you go to the Find menu and choose All Missing Files.  Are you able to tell whether any of your daughter's files are in that category?  (Sometimes, the thumbnails will still appear even if the files are missing from the catalog).

Since you haven't used the Organizer in a while, it is possible that Auto Creations is working in the background and this can frequently cause freezes of the Organizer.  You can go to Task Manager and end the Elements Auto Creations 2022.exe process.  (Let us know if you need more instructions on that.)

Elements only provides minor updates to fix bugs and include raw files from newer cameras.  The updates will only be provided until the time that the next version of the program is released.

thanks I was able to create an album as you advised. I think the missing pictures ened up in the unconfirmed tab. I was able to fix it. The organizer kept on freeziong on me so I cleared the cache and it seems to be ok now. I coudlnt find any updates to my software and was wondering if updates are not includee for software like ver 20.0 bought in perpetuity. Thanks for your help
