Low Key Reduce Effect not working

I have photoshop elements 15 and I am editing pictures and I use guided mode because I feel it is easier. All was fine until one day I used Low Key (just like I've done on my other photos) and wanted to reduce the effect of low key and it didn't work. Background effect putting more effect on worked but not the reduce effect. I was messing with the layers the other day but I am not sure if this will effect that. Help??

You could try to finish the effect in the 'Expert' mode.

When you click 'Next', choose to open in Expert mode.

Your layer pallet should show the upper layer as selected with a black mask.

Your color swatch should show white on black.

If you have painted the parts to reduce, those parts should appear lighter on the black mask.

You can select the brush tool, set manually the size and opacity and paint on the mask.

The effect should be automatic when clicking either the Color or B&W button. Use the brushes to modify the automatic effect. See if this link helps:
