Menu bar drop down boxes in Photoshop Elements 11 no longer prefilled after Windows update

My Photoshop no longer works after a Windows update occurred the other day. The menu bar drop downs are not prefilled, just blank. Photoshop will only be open for a little while before a pop up box says "Photoshop Elements 11 Editor has stopped working. A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available". I never get notified of any solution I've tried not having Photoshop open, go into a picture by right clicking on it and choosing "Open with" and "Adobe Photoshop". It will show the picture for a short time, but then that error message pops up and it shuts down.

Anyone else have this issue and figured out how to fix it? I really don't want to have to un-install and re-install

    I have the same problem.

I tried all the various options documented; nothing brought the menus back.  Next day, the menus showed without a problem and I was able to work satisfactorily.  Today back to square one, blank drop down menus. As you noted, problem only occurred after a recent Windows 10 update.

I have the same problem - with different versions on different PCs.: I use PSE 9, 10, 11.

The error has nothing to do with screen solution or bad graphic card driver etc ...

The error occured with the WIN 10 CREATORS UPDATE from Microsoft - no daubt about it!

I found NO SOLUTION anywhere on the web. At the moment I'm working with a Test version of PSE15.

This program works ... But I want to keep the older versions which worked with Windwos 10 three weeks ago.

REMARK: after the very latest update from WIN10 dated June 16 it suddenly worked again with all versions.

But since i shutdown the computers it all was all worse again.

    How to handle it:

    1. NEVER EVER install the creators update from WIN10

    2. If you have installed it, never turn off the comuter again.

    3. Buy some PSE 15 versions which work with creators update.

    4. Install a legal WIN7-VM virtual machine on your computers and install the PSE there.

Best way: Adobe should analyze the problem and offer a solution for all users.

In my opinion it may be a problem with a font used by Adobe.

    Thanks for any creative idea

    Georg

Adobe, please respond with an answer that non-programmers can understand. Better yet, just make the darn thing work.

I have the same problem and deleting saved prefs n.g.

Yesterday (10 May) there was a second Windows 10 update after which the Elements drop down issue was resolved. This morning no drop down menu script.

Never mind, my ancient Photoshop 7 works fine on Windows 10! As is said...very frustrating and extremely time wasting.

    Try deleting the saved prefs.

LLaunch the Editor whilst simultaneously holding down the three keys (Ctrl+Alt+Shift)

After two or three seconds release the keys and you should see a pop-up to delete the prefs. Click “Yes” to delete the settings.

Wait for Elements to automatically re-build the prefs and re-launch.

deleted the preferences file as suggested.  The automatic rebuilding of the file and the re-launch did not cure the blank pull down menus in PSE11 editor.
