Menu bar, everything missing from elements 11

Was using my Elements 11 and had to shut down my laptop (Macbook Air).  Now when I go back into the program to continue with my project I can not access anything.  Everything is blacked out and I have nothing.  I need to know what to do from here, or how to restore it?  Do I need to uninstall and reinstall the program?
