Menu Size PS Elements 9 on High Res Screen

Is there a fix for the menu sizing on Photoshop Elements 9? I have installed on my new laptop which has a gorgeous high resolution screen.
Unfortunately the program is essentially unusable.

Reducing the Windows screen resolution defeats the purpose of having this pc for photo editing purposes, as does the manifest file workaround.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.  Depressed looking at thousands of dollars of unusable laptop

Your new laptop may have a gorgeous screen, but that's for other reasons than resolution.

If you are looking at two displays side by side, with the same technology, the resolution factor is negligible for editing purposes.

    - It does appear if you take the time to look carefully side by side to compare. That's never the case in an editing session. For image quality assessment, you are always zooming in and out from full image view to 200% or 400% view for sharpness and noise. For reading the fonts, their size is the only criteria. High definition is good for smartphones and tablets for viewing very close.

    - If gorgeous means with true colors, controlled brightness, not reflection on glossy screen, large angle of view, fine.

    - If gorgeous means brighter (most displays are much to bright for editing purposes) or more saturated colors, beware...

Options for HiDpi displays were introduced in preferences for PSE13 through PSE15. There are three possible settings

    Automatic

    Small 100%

    Large 200%

On Windows go to Edit >> Preferences to change. See my image. After you choose e.g. 200% you must click OK, close the editor and re-launch again for the settings to take effect.

These prefs are not available in PSE9 and Adobe never updates older versions. You would probably benefit from upgrading to PSE15. I suggest you download the yrial and use it free for 30 days.
