Missing Essentials Workshop

In my class, I am directed to do this instruction:

Essentials Workspace

This course will use the Essentials workspace. Workspaces control what tools and panels are visible at any given time. We recommend that you change your Workspace to Essentials. To set Photoshop to the Essentials workspace, choose Window Workspace Essentials. Next, choose Window Workspace Reset Essentials. That will set everything to the default if it is not there already.

But I am missing these in my PSE2026. I do not see Workspace or Essentials anywhere on the screen which is set to Advanced. I assume Advanced is same as Essentials.

You can reset your workspace in Photoshop, but not Photoshop elements.

In the upper left of the screen when watching videos with the instructions do you see a little “PS”?  If you do that means it’s photoshop, not photoshop elements.

What you describe “To set Photoshop to the Essentials workspace, choose Window Workspace Essentials. Next, choose Window Workspace Reset Essentials. That will set everything to the default if it is not there already.”  is for photoshop.

All that is for photoshop, not photoshop elements.   I think perhaps your class  might be steering your wrong, or you signed up for the wrong class:   Photoshop elements is much simpler to use than Photoshop.

That is what I was wondering.  The class is really for PS, not PSE.  I think I can work around that as the class covers masks and selections so there should not be that much different.   I am not buying PS because subscription is required, and I have one foot in the grave. I used PS for many years until one year its interface was too small on the screen, so I quit and started using PSE instead. Thanks for your reply.

Santa got me A 32”  monitor a couple of years ago- makes a world of difference.

“Working around”- getting photoshop things to work in pse can be rather difficult at times. I consider myself pretty gosh darn good at PSE- and sometimes will watch PS videos and think “Yeah I can do that in PSE”-- but I also subscribe to Photoshop.

Best money I ever spend on software.
