Missing image midtones

The data missing from this histogram is gone forever.  We all know that, but I wonder if anyone is aware of a tweak or trick that might possibly improve the quality of this image despite it’s missing data.  It isn’t a total loss but you can tell it isn’t right.  I’ve seen this condition with other images over the years and just moved on.  Does this thing have any hope?
