Need the right element/app.

I am a card crafter and while I can get good results with other online photo editors, pixlr, pic monkey and lunapic, there is one thing that they cannot give 100% results at and that is removing the white border around a transparency especially if it has to go on a dark background, Is there a particular app or element within the Photoshop collection that will give the result that I want without the expense of buying all the apps/elements?
