NEF Raw 25 mg files not loading into Elements 11

New camera purchase  for me - when importing files, all of these RAW files only were not brought in. Message saying files not imported because they 'did not contain supported files'. Is there some setting on the camera or in the software I need to adjust to make this work? Is this a version of Elements limitation?

Take the time to read that faq:

FAQ: Will Photoshop Elements work with my camera, or Why won't my raw files open?

and especially the links to know which cameras are supported for a given ACR version and which Elements version is compatible with an ACR version.

Short answer: no old editing software can understand the raw format of ANY new camera because all cameras are issued with a new format.

General (free) workaround: download the Adobe DNGconverter mentioned in the faq. That independent software, not a plugin, will batch convert a whole folder of your NEF files to the DNG raw format that older Elements (or even non Adobe editors) can read and edit. An additional (batch) step, but free.

I have an 8 year old IMAC, and my latest operating system is OS X 10.9.5

and I need a Raw Version of 8.7

Upgrade 2018 needs a higher system version than I am willing to try. So,

what upgrade can you make available that works with my current system

that will also give me a 8.7 compatibility?

    Thank you.

I am not Adobe, just another user like you.

The free workaround is described in my above post.

The DNGconverter is on version 10.1 today (6th line).

Adobe - Adobe Camera Raw and DNG Converter : For Macintosh

You use your Mac OS to download your files from your card or camera to a folder in your computer.

You run the DNGconverter to get DNG files.

The downloader in Elements lets you import those files 'from files and folders' (not from camera or card reader). There is no copy of the files, the process indexes your 'imported files' with their properties in the catalog.
