New computer Photoshop elements restore catalog from PSE 2018 gets error message

Just bought new computer & installed Photoshop Elements 2024.  Did full back up of PSE 2018 16.0.0.0 on old computer.  Tried restore catalog on new.  Got error (something about access violation), now can't find where error file saved.  Done this twice with same outcome.  In explorer a number of photo files have loaded but by no means all.  Any ideas please on how to move forward.  Thanks.
