Nikon Z9 RAW files, import into Organizer

Elementsd 2021:  I used the workaround found here, manually installed Camera Raw 14.3.0.1072.  Now, the RAW files from my Z9 will install into the organizer, HOWEVER:  the card reader is not recognized in the photo downloader, I must import using "from files and folders" - unacceptable, as the import parameters in the photo downloader are missing (author, copyright, etc.) AND the imported files are not placed in the destination folder that has been set in the photo downloader (rather, they continue to exist in the drive that is the camera's memory card).  How do I get the Photo Downloader to recognize the card reader plugged in to my Windows 10 computer??

Your workaround via copy to a flash drive should work.  What concerns do you have about copying via a USB cable, using the APD?  I can tell you that copying from a CFexpress Type A card, using this method is very fast.

I have no real objection, rather, a personal preference, to maintain consistent workflow, as I also download photos for my wife, from a different camera.  I do value maintaining continuity of method.  With the Z9 in extremely high demand (I waited over 6 months), I can't imagine Adobe will be lax in resolving the issues.

Again, with sincere appreciation.

If you are using CFexpress memory cards, others have reported the problem, and I know of no fix.  If you connect your camera directly to the computer via a USB cable, you should be able to use the Adobe Photo Downloader via Import>From Camera or Card Reader.

Thank you for your kind attention and response.  I'll  try your suggestion.  If it works, I will be able to proceed, although it is not a method I want to use.  Very frustrating, I've used a number of top Nikon cameras/cards/card readers with Elements through the years, and never encountered this.  One other workaround occurs to me, which I may try when time permits:  in the past, when I wanted the Photo Downloader to install photos from other than camera memory card/card reader, I've found copying the photo files to a blank, formatted flash drive, will then appear as a source in the Photo Downloader.  Perhaps, this will work also regarding the current problem.  Of course, I expect Adobe eventually to resolve all this in Elements 2021, that is, provide the Camera Raw 14.3 I've installed as a routine Camera Raw update, plus fixing the problem of card reader recognition, with CFexpress Type B.

I'm a loyal, long time Photoshop Elements user, upgrading every 2 years.  I feel an Elements upgrade should not be required now, to resolve these matters, as the Nikon Z9 was introduced in 2021, the year of my current Elements.  After a long 6 months wait for delivery of this camera, I'm eager to get to more photography and photo editing!
