Noise reduction

Hello,

I've just upgraded to Elements 15, but there seems to be something wrong with the noise reduction, it hardly works at all. Only when I set the noise reduction slider to 90% and the details slider to 5% there's a tiny change in the noise, but there is still a lot of noise left. The median tool works just fine, but I prefer the noise reduction, as it gives more control. Any ideas how to fix this?

Rather than using the filters try using the Camera Raw dialog

    From the menu use:

File >> Open in Camera Raw

The sliders for luminance and color noise reduction are normally quite effective. They are found in the middle detail tab (to the left of the camera icon). After using the NR sliders you can also apply sharpening. The masking slider lets you tweak the sharpening e.g. in a landscape photo applying sharpening to contrast edges whilst ignoring areas such as sky. The areas being masked (not sharpened) are shown in black when the alt key is depressed.

When finished in the camera raw dialog click the open image button to send the image into the regular editor and save as usual.
