On a Mac Sierra OS, using PSE15, can you get rid of window?

I have been using PS5 on my old iMac. But, I recently purchased a new iMac with the Sierra OS and PS5 and PS6 will neither one work without crashing. Ugh! I even asked before purchasing new iMac if my PS versions would work on new OS and was assured they would. Best Buy lied! So, I'm considering purchasing PSE15, but I absolutely hate having to work within the PSE "window." Is there any way to work outside the window? I want to be able to have several documents open at once, side by side, and drag/drop from one document to the other. Any suggestions or is it even possible?
