Opening after being done with camera RAW

I am rather new to Elements 2018 but have been editing in another program for over 12 years so have a good knowledge of the concepts. When I first got Elements 2018 and I was done with adjusting the picture in Adobe RAW and used to open the picture it would open as a screen in the center of the Expert Editor. I'm not sure how or what I did, but now when I open, it opens a small screen in the top left corner and I have to click View and Fit on Screen for it to open to the 'normal' window and then drag it to the middle. Can someone please tell me how to get it so it opens like it did before. I cannot find any help on the Adobe sites or am not looking deep enough. Thanks for any help regarding this.

I tried this on my computer and it did not work. When I went back to deselecting the option it works again. I have Windows 10 pro with an 17 processor with 16 gig of RAM and a 8 gig video card. I think I'll live with this quirk.

I keep receiving posts confirming that the workaround with the Ctrl key does work.

It would be good to receive more feedback from 'floating windows' users.

The issue is not specific to opening from camera raw, which explains why you have not found answers on Adobe forums. It also happens when you open files directly in the editor when you have set the preferences to open your files in floating windows in expert mode.

This is one of the two major bugs created by the last Windows 10 (1803) update along with the memory problems.

Elements 15: floating images open extremely small in the editor

Unfortunately, apart from disabling 'floating in windows', there is not much you can do to avoid moving and resizing the files.

The other major bug introduced by the Win update is:

Error: An integer between 50 and 8 is required | Elements | Windows 10

That fixed the problem and it opens 'as it should as default' in the center of the window. Thank you for this help.

If  I have this disabled in Elements what functionality may be in the future am I going to lose?

I just found yesterday that you can keep the floating window functionality.

You have to keep the Ctrl key pressed while opening the image or several images.
That also works when dragging files or using the organizer.

Can you show us a screenshot of what it looks like after you open but before you View / Fit?
