Hi, I just downloaded photoshop elements 2018 and am trying to open pdf's to edit, and it says that it won't import or edit because it doesn't support that file type.

I'm wondering how to change settings or add this so that I can open a pdf and edit it to a jpg file.  I have done that easily before in photoshop elements 2009.

thank you, Pam

    Pam,

Do you mean opening in the editor or importing in the organizer?

Unfortunately, support for importing 'normal' pdfs in the organizer has been dropped in PSE15 and 2018... Only files in the Photoshop-pdf format are recognized by the organizer. It's an hybrid format combining a photoshop (psd) format and a pdf. That's the format you create when saving as pdf in the editor.

For the editor, I don't see any change: the pdf must be converted first as in older versions. Do you get the error message with other types of pdfs?

I guess I can't even import the pdf's into the organizer.  Perhaps you have answered by saying that the support for importing "normal" pdfs in the organizer was dropped in 2018.  I was using an old Photoshop elements before - 2009!  If I go to the folder where my scanned pdf's are, and try to open with photoshop 2018, it says there is a program error or the file types are not supported.  I used to be able to open it, and then take the pages and layer into one big jpeg file.  These pdfs are old letters that I scanned and for email purposes I chose pdf format when I initially scanned them.  I hope this makes sense!  I guess I can use my old laptop with photoshop 2009 to import these pdfs.  Thank you!
