Organiser 2025 does not respond after upgrading from 2020 version

After upgrading from PSE 2020 to 2025 I cannot get the Organiser to function properly. I can select the previous Catalogue version and convert it, however the programe becomes unresponsive, e.g. File, Edit etc. menus.

I am using Microsoft Onedrive for file management, so was thinking this might be part of the problem. However, PSE 2020 continues to work fine.

After numerous attempts to uninstall/re-install, plus delete residual folders created by 2025 install, I am at loss.

Anyone had similar problems?

You can try contacting Elements support. You can start a chat session by going to the Contact Adobe Support page.  Make sure you are signed into your Adobe account and type Agent when the chat window opens. (If you use my link, the chat window should open automatically.)  With your permission, Support can take remote control of your computer to see what is going on and hopefully provide a solution.

You have to be more patient.

Which program is unresponsive?  The Organizer or the Editor or both?

How large is your catalog?  When the catalog is converted, it is going to go through multiple analysis processes (Face Recognition, Smart Tags, Auto Creations etc.).  This creates a huge performance impact and, depending on your computer specs, may even bog down the Editor.

Also, and even worse, is the fact that the Organizer is set, by default, to automatically upload your images to the Elements Web.  This is an even greater resource hog, even though the process is supposed to take place in the background.

I suggest that you go to the Edit>Preferences dialog.  Press Ctrl+K if you are having difficulty getting to it.  Turn off all options in the Media Analysis and Auto Sync tabs and see if it makes a difference to your situation.  Please report back what happens.

    OK.  I have been patient.

The organizer program has converted the older catalog, however I an now see that the Editor is totally unresponsive.

In the catalog folder, the biggest file is about 1GB (thumbs), with the largest direct reference to catalog being ~200kb.

All options have been turned off within the preferences with no immediate improvement. The options to perform File, Edit etc. functons remain locked/unresponsive.

Additionally, I should have said thanks very much for the prompt reply.

Also, switching back to the main options sccreen or minimising the program results in the screen turning temporarily black. I have checked the graphics driver, which looks to be in order.

in the future, to find the best place to post your message, use the list here, https://community.adobe.com/

p.s. i don't think the adobe website, and forums in particular, are easy to navigate, so don't spend a lot of time searching that forum list. do your best and we'll move the post (like this one has already been moved) if it helps you get responses.
