My pc crashed and am trying to restore my back up file to the new pc, however on the new pc it is looking for a .tly file when my other pc saved the back up as a .buc file.  How can I correct this.

    Also, an AI response:

    Immediate Troubleshooting Steps

    1. Check for an Incomplete Backup: Go back to your old PC and check the backup folder again. If the backup process was interrupted or finished too quickly, the .tly file might not have been created.
    2. Verify Full vs. Incremental: If you only did an "incremental" backup, it might be missing the required files. Try running a full backup again on the old PC.
    3. Locate Catalog.buc: If you see Catalog.buc on your new computer, it is a copy of your database, but you cannot restore it without the Backup.tly file that was supposed to accompany it.

    Workarounds

    • Rename Catalog.buc: If you cannot create a new backup with the .tly file, you can try renaming a copy of the catalog.buc file to catalog.pseXXdb (where XX is your version number, e.g.catalog.pse19db for 2019) and placing it in a new folder to see if the Organizer can open it directly.
    • Re-import Media: If the .tly file is gone, you may have to skip the restore process and re-import your photos into a new, blank catalog on the new PC.

Thank you let me try this and I will let you know - as I have restore some other items first  As  I learned that the cause of the crash was the boot drive partition of my old hard drive.   At least I always have a back up of the pictures which is good, just 15 years of organizing is what I am trying to recover.   I will keep you posted and thank you again.

Thank you - that issue sounds very similar to mine.
