Organizer keeps losing its marbles and corrupting its catalogue - PSE 2024 on Mac

Recently downloaded PSE2024 on OSX. Imported around 6,000 pics.

 

Every few days, Organizer catalogue becomes corrupted. Lots of greys pics with a "?" in the middle. "Reconnect all missing files" says ~3,900 are missing and tries to download them from the cloud and never finds any (cloud sync is switched off and always has been so not sure why PSE thinks they may be there).

 

None of the 3,900 pics are actually missing. But if I try to reimport them, Organizer says there are no new files! So I am stuck. Optimizing the catalogue runs to completion. Makes no difference to the result.

 

I have had to create a new catalogue and start again (hours of stacking, versioning, tagging etc. etc.) about 4 times. Not going to do it again.

 

Any ideas what ths issue is or is P 2024 on OSX just not fit for purpose?

    (I know nothing about Macs.)

     

    Where are the "missing" images stored?  If you select a missing image and click on the Location in the Information panel on the right, does the correct folder open up and is the file in that location?

     

    Have you conducted any file or folder operations outside of the Organizer?

    What filter are you using.  Have you tried the Local Media Only option?
