Overlay Image with transparent background

I created an image in QuarkXPress. It includes a photo and text. I wanted to use a logo with a transparent background. I have the logo created in Photoshop Elements. I have saved it in multiple formats. Everytime I place the image with the transparent background in Quark the transparent background reverts to white. I am exporting the final image out of Quark and into PE. Is there a way to overay the transparent background image in Photoshop Elements?

In photoshop elements 2021 i created a transparent image, the used File>Save As to save as a PNG.

In QarkXPress used the Picture Box Tool to create an area for the png, then used File>Import to get the png created in photoshop elements.

In QuarkXPress in the bottom panel with Pictue Box selected is Composite shown where the red arrow in the below screenshot indicates?

Jeff, I hit something by mistake and I don't have the panel at the bottom of Quark that you show.. I've gone into View and Windows in an effort to restore it, but I don't know what it is called. I don't have any problem in creating a transparent image. The odd thing is when I import it into Quark, as a PNG for esample, the image immediately reverts to a white background.  If I can get that bottom panel back I'll try what you are suggesting. Thanks

Also just to be sure the logo your saving out of photoshop elements only has the 1 transperent logo layer and not any background layer as well?

Look at the Measurements palette's Mask drop-down menu.

In QuarkXPress after you import the logo into the picture box, right click on the logo and click Modify, then under

Picture>Mask is it set to None or Alpha Mask 1?
