pattern fill problems

Hi,

I purchased a background pattern from Shutterstock in png format.

I have loaded it into Photoshop Elements and defined the pattern.   When selecting the pattern in pattern fill it fills with white?

No other patterns do this on the document I am trying to do.  I have also defined new patterns and they work.

I am at a loss?  Be grateful for any help.
