PE 15 freezes during import

I had a problem with PS 15, so I uninstalled it and downloaded the program again from Adobe. Upon re-installing and running, without any actions on my part, a flash screen appears "Files Ready For Import" and I am given two options YES or NO.  Upon selecting either, PE 15 starts importing the same series of files that I had previously attempted, gets partially done and freezes. I let the circle go around, for one time one and a half hours.  Another click gives me the option to WAIT or CLOSE program-from Windows 10?  By previously attempted I mean before uninstalling as mentioned above.The bottom line is PE 15 is unavailable to me.
