Question

PE 2018 irrational behaviour

I have two problems with 2018 which did not occur in 2012. These are: In media view with stacks, if I open and close a stack the next stack following opens automatically. Closing this causes the next following stack after that to open and so on. Why is this? (I can go to the main menu and select close all stacks but why do I have to do this). Secondly, I find that albums do not open in 'album order'. Once 'album order' is selected other albums also open in album order, but if I go to folder view and then back to albums they revert to newest first order. This seems crazy, but there does not appear to be an option to always open albums in 'album order'. Any help please!

This shows that what is normal for some is crazy for others.

1 - the "follow to next stack/version set" behaviour is still there after several PSE versions. That's what people editing version sets methodically seem to require. Like you, I find this annoying. The simple workaround is to right click on a file of the stack and choose "collapse items..." instead of clicking back on the triangle icon.

2 - The "album order" is systematic for some users. They want it to be the default one. Others, like me, only use it for some of their album. For me, the reason is that 80% of the time, I am happy with the chronological sort order or I have already renamed my files to be exported in file name order for external softwares. If I had always the 'album" order, it would result in random sort order depending on how the items in the album were included, unless I took care to order manually. So, the current choice for the sort order is not a problem for me.

Thanks for the workaround for the stacks. That makes it a bit less irritating, although it seems an illogical thing to have programmed in!

I do find the reversion to date order for albums moat annoying. Surely if I have arranged an album in a certain order, that is the way I would normally wish to see it. Microsoft seem able to 'remember' how things are set and open in the same way next time. Why can't Abobe programmers manage to do the same? Anybody found a solution for this - I would have liked an option to select the album order every time until I decide to change.
