PE 2020 Mac Monterey Back up and restore failure

I'm running Monterey ver 12.5 on my Mac PC

I have PE 2020 installed

I'm attempting to backup and restore the catalog on an external drive

Despite several attempts at backing up and restore it fails.
The Backup folder does not contain the all important ‘backup.tly’ file.
What’s the solution?
