Pencil tool not working

To Photoshop Elements 10Aug 13, 2017Last March my computer crashed and I had to get a new one. I reinstalled Photoshop Elements 10 and installed the latest updates, the original program numbers (PN:65137091, / PSE,10.0,MLP, CSGN / UE,001,CV,MB / 83919 22629 3 / LOT Code 71474). I have been trying to change the pencil tool and I have been asking other people and nobody knows how to do it up this date.Upon reloading Photoshop Elements 10 and the new program had the following changes: I use Google Earth to download roadways and intersections, and place them onto Elements 10 “jpeg” files. I had used Elements 10 to place dimensions of roadways, onto the Google Earth aerial photos. For years I had been using the pencil tool program without any problems. Now the pencil line tool cannot get straight lines [Horizontal, Vertical, Arrows, etc.] to place dimension lines and arrows onto the drawings. I cannot change the upper left-hand corner box from brushes to straight lines and arrows. Since March I have been trying to change the defaults in the program and I could not, I a cannot use this program, was the pencil tool removed during the updates and can it be reinstalled.Thank YouRobert Message was edited by: Moderator (Personal Info Removed)

Firstly, this is not Adobe. This is a user to user forum where volunteers aim to help one another. PSE10 is quite old software and there have been no recent updates. It is more likely that an update to the computer operating system has caused an incompatibility. One thing you could try is a tool re-set – see my blog post on the subject.

Using the line tool does not work I tried every combination and noting removes the brushes to Pencil Line for straight Horizontal, Vertical, Arrows, etc and design arrows (width & length). See Item #4 above in original letter.

I have use the pencil tool for years without any problems, as soon a I uploaded the updates the Pencil line was replaced with brushes which was optional before, it not even an option under the updates, WHY?

I work with engineering drawings for 40 year and without problems. Why can't you reprogram the Pencil Tool back into its original settings. Go back to a previous programs before the last updates Check you line coding.

I you can't not change it, go back to the programmers!
